Political observers have called on Governor
Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State to take into cognizance competence
credibility and grass root support in picking his new commissioners.
Most political analysts who spoke to African Drum on the issue in Jos today said the days of
compensation and appointments on the basis of political expediency have since
gone and called on the Governor to observed the best standards in picking those
that would constitute his new cabinet to enable him achieve his vision and
mission for the state.
According to them, Lalong has good policies
for Plateau State but needed competent, credible and dedicated people who can
generate ideas that would propel the speedy growth and ignite fire of
confidence in their ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to the citizenry.
The observers believed not all the relieved
commissioners may have performed below expectation consequently, they further
called on the Governor to accommodate them.
They also spoke in one voice in commending
Governor Lalong over the dissolution of his cabinet adding that they also
expect him to turn his searchlight on his advisers in other to root out those
that have not been good drivers of his policies and therefore not contributing
to the overall achievement of the administration.
