A stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Senatorial aspirant for Plateau Central Senatorial District, Mr. Isaac Wadak has observed that the party did not handle the issue of he deputy governor well.

The choice of Dr. James Dalok has created mis-understanding in the party the heights which is the passing of vote of no confidence on the State Chairman of the party, Hon. D. T. Sango by some members of the party in the Central Zone of the State.

However, in an exclusive chat with African Drum recently, Wadak noted that those who are against the choice of Dalok saw themselves as potentials but did not make the list consequently the reason for their grievances. He applauded the efforts of the party that has already put machinery in place towards resolving the issue. “The party is already looking into the issue by setting the machinery to ensure that all aggrieved party members are pacified so that we can have one voice and work towards the success of the party during the next elections”. He said.
One the issue of alleged marginalization of the people of Kanam by the Angas people taking into cognizance that both the senatorial and House of Representatives tickets of the party where clinched by the Angas speaking candidates, Wadak took an exception to the issue of marginalization. “I take exception to the claim of marginalization because all the candidates emerged through a credible, transparent due political process open to all and it so happened that candidates from Angas extraction won, so where is the marginalization”?
He however said that his personal opinion is that micro zoning would have done the magic.

“Despite this, I would say that as a matter of fact, we did not handle this issue properly from the central zone. I said we because I am one of the stakeholders of the PDP in the zone. I expected that there should have been a kind of micro-zoning of positions to local government areas that make up the central zone. You see, when some of us agitated for micro-zoning of positions, the party in the zone in its wisdom said that was needless.
“Unfortunately, the case of the deputy governor for instance turned out to be different as the party suddenly observed the micro-zoning to the surprise of some of us. So, you can see the double standards as regarding the issue of deputy governor. The deputy governorship position was zoned to central zone, and the central zone micro- zoned it to a particular local government, a decision the party did not adopt in other positions.
“So, we did not handle it well. We mess up but like I said earlier, this kind of problem is not beyond redemption. It may be daunting but certainly, not insurmountable”. He said.
