By: Lovins Yakubu, May 06, 2022

The Jos Division of the court of Appeal has  dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to squashed the October 2021 Local Government Election conducted by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) for excluding the party.

The court said  the suit was dismissed for lack of merit and upheld that the exclusion of the PDP during the 2021 council election was in accordance with the law.  Recall that, PLASIEC (the body saddled with the responsibility of conducting Local Government Elections in Plateau State had refused to acknowledge the list of PDP candidates in the Local Government elections which was eventually conducted in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state on October 09, 2021.

PLASIEC also refused to issued Forms to the PDP  candidates and the party itself. This necessitated the suit at the Lower Court.

Not satisfied with the outcome of the suit as delivered by Hon. Justice I. Kunda, on the 29th of September, 2021, the PDP appealed to the Court of Appeal prompting today's Judgment.
