Plateau Tribunal: I still maintain that Komsol presented fake
certificate - Hon Johnbull
By Joseph A. Adudu
September 13, 2019.
Hon Johnbull Temlong Shekarau has maintained that Hon Alphonsus Komsol
presented a fake Primary School certificate to the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) during the 2019 general elections.
The election of Hon Komsol in the 23 February 2019 to represent,
Quanpan, Shendam ,Mikang Federal Constituency in the National Assembly under
the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was challenge at the Election
Petition Tribunal by Hon Shekarau of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The
tribunal in its judgment on Tuesday, upheld the election of Hon Komsol.
However, speaking to African
Drum in reaction to the judgment, Shekarau said that though the tribunal
has delivered its judgment, it's not over until it's over. " Today, the
tribunal delivered its judgment. And as you know, in politics, it's not over
until it's actually over. The tribunal has done what it knows best. I wouldn't
say much at the moment until I have a word with my lawyers before the next line
of action. We have experienced in the past when similar cases decided at the
lower tribunal were upturned at the Appeal Tribunal. So, it's a process".
Said Shekarau.
On the expunged of
paragraphs in his petition challenging the qualification of Hon Komsol by the tribunal in the course of delivering its judgement,
Shekarau maintained that Komsol presented a fake certificate to INEC. " I
believe that that certificate he presented is fake. It is a fake certificate.
There is no doubt about that and we have presented all the necessary documents
to prove that. You can't tell me that somebody will sign a certificate and back
date, you can't tell me that a certificate can be signed on a Sunday, you can't
also tell me that during a serious strike, somebody would go to work and sign a
certificate", he said.
Hon Shekarau concluded by calling on all his supporters to remain calm and law abiding as they decides on the next line of action.
