The Chairman
of the PDP Plateau State Campaign Council, Hon Damishi Sango has saluted all
party officials, members and supporters for the successful campaign flag off
which was held in Mangu on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
He expressed
profound appreciation for the
overwhelming turn out of officials, members, supporters and friends of
the party who showed unity and determination of purpose in stretching the Mangu
mini-stadium to beyong capacity.
A statement from
the Media and Publicity Committee of the campaign Council on Wednesday and a
copy made available to African Drum
stated that Sango gave the appreciation in a meeting with Chairmen of all
committees of the Presidential Campaign Council in his office on Wednesday,
January, 9, 2019.
The
statement further stated that the Chairman described the event as a clear and
total acceptance of the PDP over any other party in the state for the upcoming
elections. It shows the Candidacy of Distinguished Senator JT Useni for
governor of Plateau State is totally acceptable to the people of Plateau
State.
"I am
happy that in spite of deliberate attempts by our enemies to infiltrate our
ranks and cause commotion, party members remained focused and conducted
themselves well before, during and after the event. There was an angelic
intervention, because the whole JT Useni is God's project".
The State
Campaign Council Chairman thanked all party dignitaries, and especially the
immediate past Governor and Senator, Northern Zone, Senator Jonah David Jang, for
the unique roles he played before, during and after the rally, which showed a
lot of goodwill.
"The
message across the state is that the PDP on the Plateau is one; it is a united family
that is set to take back power from the non-performing APC administration."
According to
the statement, “Hon Sango condemned in very strong terms the bad spirit
displayed by pockets of miscreants believed to be APC supporters who
intimidated and harassed PDP supporters around the Old Market towards the
Divisional Police Headquarters, Mangu.
Made up
mostly of children, youth and women, they rained abuses on PDP supporters,
banging, and smashing their vehicles and throwing objects on them.
We salute
the professional conduct of the security personnel aided by the vigilante group
for providing an enabling environment for the huge event to hold successfully
thus ensuring that all our people and those who came in solidarity left Mangu
unhurt.
We in PDP
pledge to undertake peaceful campaign rallies across the length and breadth of
the state all through the period of electioneering.
We, however,
caution that the peaceful disposition of PDP members should not be taken for
granted.
We call on
our teeming members and supporters all over Plateau State to remain calm but
vigilant, and look forward to welcoming His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,
our standard flag bearer on Saturday, January 12, 2019, in Jos”.
