RIYOM/BARKIN LADI FED. CONSTITUENCY IS A FORECLOSED ISSUE – MWADKON

An
aspirant for the House of Representatives Barkin Ladi /Riyom Federal Constituency
under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Simon Mwadkon has
said that the PDP primary election scheduled for this month is a walk-over. He
is also sai he was confident of winning
the secondary election next year taking account his previous performance in the
green chamber of the National Assembly.
Mwadkon
made this statement in a chat with journalists at the PDP state Secretariat
along Yakubu Gowon Way Jos after submitting his interest and nomination form.

Drum reports that the aspirant believed the people to be his source of
inspiration because they are in dire need of quality representation adding that
they also need a person that will hit the ground running. Mwadkon said he is
that person because he has been there before and he performed credibility well
which was why the people wanted him to represent them again.
“It
is not my first time of contesting. I have contested several elections, from ASUU
to National Assembly and I made wonderful performance. So, what inspired me is
not far-fetched. The people are in dire need of quality representation. The
people need who will speak for them more so that the constituency is currently bedeviled
with crises.”
The former
member further appreciated the current state of enlightenment of electorates,
stressing that gone are the days when people voted based on sentiments.
He said
that because of the massive support he has, prompted him not to print posters
adding that his posters were the people at wards, those that he was able to
touched their lives through the execution of massive projects when he was at
the National Assembly from 2011 to 2015.
He outlined some of his constituency
outreach in Riyom LGA to include 7km road linking Fol and Rim, construction and
furnishing of ICTG centre in Tse Village of Danto ward Ganawuri, construction
of three classroom blocks with toilets and office at Dapyam, construction of
health care centre at Tahoss, construction of solar bore-hole at SDPP,
construction of solar bore-hole at Shonnong in Sharubutu among many other
projects. While in Barkin Ladi, he said
some of the constituency outreach includes; Construction of 16 offices at
Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos campus, Construction and furnishing of ICT
centre at Heipang, Installation of 300KVA transformer at Heipang,
Electrification of Rafan and Tafan wards, Construction of solar borehole at
Rafan and Tafan Federal Wards, Construction of three classroom block with
toilet and office at Rakung Gassa Sho Ward, Installation of 200KVA transformer
at Rakung, Solar street light at Rakok, Solar street light at Tokok, Solar
street light at Razat.
Others
include, Solar street light at Mazat (Ganan Daji), Grading of road and
construction of culverts at Bet, Zat and Lohala, Supply of computers worth
10million through TETFUND to Plateau State Polytechnic, Construction of hand
pump borehole at Sho, Construction of three classroom blocks with toilet and
office at Kworos, Lo-Biring Ward, Construction of three classroom blocks,
toilet and office at Rasat, Foron Zabot Ward, construction of three classroom
blocks, toilet and office at Bak Kapwis Ward, Construciton of three classroom
blocks, toilet and office at Majankai Gindin Akwati Ward, Construction of hand
pump borehole at Mazat, Installation of 300 KVA transformer at Gindi Akwati and
Construction of solar borehole at Zegerek in Kurra falls.
The
aspirant added that he also ensured the empowerment of over 60 youths into the
Nigerian Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air force), Ensure the employment of 15
youth into the Civil Defense, 10 youths into various Nigerians Universities as
Lecturers, 4 youths in to road Safety, Trained 20 youths in various skills such
as tilling, wielding, POP, poultry, fabrication and Auto electronics at ITF
training school Abuja among many other programmes.
Hon said he has a good working relationship with journalists adding that he intended to strengthened that relationship at the National Assembly.
