The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau state chapter said it has discovered another plot by the Gov Simon Lalong APC led Government in the state to forcefully and illegally shut down some media outlets in the state.

In a press release signed the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. John Akans (KSM) and a copy made available to African Drum, the party stated that it was reliably informed that the plot was at the instigation of Gov Lalong who it believed to be working in concert with external forces hostile to the people of plateau state.
According to the PDP, “As Nigerians are still in the rude shock of APC's dictatorial act of lawlessness, Governor Lalong of Plateau state through his commissioner for information, Mr Yakubu  Datti in line with the dictatorial policies of the APC has called on the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission ( NBC) to shut down some media stations (outlets) in the state, for what he Mr Datti claimed as ‘unprofessional conduct”.

The party called on the Federal Government through its agency, the NBC to note that, the plot if carried out will be in defiance of people's rights and freedom of speech stressing that as a responsible political party, the PDP will continue to maintain its stand on the respect for rule of law.

Continuing, the PDP stated “It is a matter for deep concern that remnants of the APC in plateau state are already afraid of the imminent and total collapse of the party as 2019 is around the corner. We therefore advice the government to resent such nefarious schemes as this evil plot , which if carried out as planned by Mr Datti will represent a most brazen assault on the integrity of people of plateau state and of the institution of Democracy as well as threaten the fragile peace in the state”.

Consequently, the party called on plateau people to rise up in total rejection of what it called dictatorial jack -boot democracy and further alleged that Gov Lalong and the APC, with the help of his principal at the Aso villa who are desperately seeking to impose on plateau the unpopular policy, having failed in other anti people policies are now re-introducing another antic to subvert the people's rights. , as monumental defeat at 2019 elections stare them in the face.

The PDP advised Gov Lalong and the APC to abide by the tenants of the principles of rule of law and people's rights and decent freedom of expression particularly now that  the 2019 general elections is around the corner.
