The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, South West Nigeria, Ayodele Fayose has called on the Nigerian Military to redirect its operation python dance and crocodile smile to the North central states of Plateau, Benue as well as Taraba and Adamawa in the North – East where Fulani herdsmen have reportedly been killing innocent Nigerians and destroying farmlands worth billions of naira.

The Governor who described as reckless the remarks credited to the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a splinter group of Miyelti Allah Cattle Breeders Association over the Benue state’s anti-open grazing law said that the silence of President Muhammadu Buhari government on the matter was complicit. In a statement by the Special Assistant on Public Communications and new media to the governor, Lere Olayinka and a copy made available to this medium reads, “If the Federal Government does not want to be seen as protecting the Fulani herdsmen, the attention of the army’s python that is dancing in the south east and crocodile smile that is smiling in the south west and south - south should be focused on the killer herdsmen”

Fayose said that the alarm raised by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State over alleged plan by the Miyelti Allah to launch fresh attack on the state should disturb peace-loving citizens adding that the moment a state governor begins to raise alarm as done by Governor Ortom, those playing ostrich to the herdsmen’s menace should know that they can no longer pretend that all is well.

Recalled that Plateau and Benue states have been under constant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen resulting in the destruction of lives and properties. The recent attack occurred in Irigwe chiefdom in Bassa LGA of Plateau state where more than 60 people mostly women and children were killed and hundreds of houses destroyed within one month.
