Crime: Police parade suspected killer of 300 level UniJos student, others.

The Plateau State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has paraded a 20 year old man, Moses Oko as the suspected killer of Miss Jennifer Anthony, a 300 level student of the University of Jos whose lifeless body was found mutilated in a hotel in Jos on January 01, 2022. 

In his maiden press briefing on Wednesday in Jos, the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, Bartholomew Onyeka said the suspect, also said to be a boy friend of the deceased fled after committing the crime adding that the Command, in a bid to arrest the perpetrator, launched an aggressive manhunt and tactically trailed him to Benue State where he was arrested by hawked-eye police operatives of the Command. The Police Commissioner said the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation was completed.

In a similar development, the Commissioner of Police stated that following the cases of Abduction of one, Mrs. Tabitha Silas Vem, wife of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Plateau State Government House and one Dr Samuel Audu of Barkin Ladi local government area of the state, a combined team of Police operatives and other security agencies in a rescue operation, stormed and combed the bushes around Sho Village and rescued the victims unhurt on January 11, 2022.  He said the victims were stabilized and reunited with their families. The Onyeka however added that efforts are on top gear to apprehend the suspects.  


The CP further gave a run down of achievements of the Command under his leadership as follows: "Rescue Of A Kidnapped Victim: On the 10/11/2021 at about 1840hrs, while acting on a credible information, the operatives of the Command attached to Laranto Division in collaboration with the Anti- Kidnapping Unit (AKU) of the Command, stormed a suspected kidnapping den at Saya village along Jos – Kano road where they kidnap and harbor their victims, one Dr Micah Samaila ‘m’ of Bingham University Teaching Hospital Jos; on sighting the operatives, gun duel ensued but they were overpowered by the superior gunfire of the Police and in the process, they abandoned the victim and fled into the bush.

"The victim was rescued unhurt and has been re-united with his family. Effort is on with the view to arrest the fleeing suspects.Culpable Homicide: On 12/11/2021 at about 0500hrs, a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer, Bokkos Division that on 11/11/2021 at about 2100hrs, one Bilyaminu Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 20years of Bokkos town had a misunderstanding with one Amandi Atikai ‘m’ of New Layout in Bokkos over tramadol drugs and in the process, the said Bilyaminu removed a knife in his possession and stabbed Amandi severally on his back.

"The victim was rushed to the hospital but died while on admission.Upon receipt of the report, Police operatives attached to the Division were mobilized to the scene. The suspect was trailed and arrested.

"He confessed to the crime and the knife was also recovered. Case will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.   Arrest Of Suspected Cultist And Recovery Of Locally Made Pistol: 

"On 16/11/2021 at about 1930hrs, while acting on a credible information from impeccable source, the Operatives of the Command attached to Laranto Division carried out an intelligence-led raid on black spot at Gamajigo area along Zaria Road, Jos and the following persons were arrested; (i) Patrick Gambo aged 22yrs and (ii) John Yakubu aged 18yrs all male of different address in Jos.

"Upon interrogation, suspects confessed to have belonged to the same cult group. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include; one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, a jack knife, and three mobile phones. Suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.

"Criminal Conspiracy, Trespass And Armed Robbery: On 22/11/2021 at about 2100hrs, the Command received distress call that some miscreants criminally conspired and entered the house of one Engr. Korode Najib ‘m’ of Kunkura farm, Barkin Akawu Area to rob him.

"On receipt of the report, the battle ready Police Operatives of the Command attached to Rantya Division swiftly raced to the scene where one Idris Abbas ‘m’ aged 18years and one Kasimu Haruna ‘m’ aged 17years were arrested.Exhibit recovered from the suspects include one locally made revolver pistol and one round of live ammunition.

"Discreet investigation is ongoing and suspects will be charged to court soon. 

"Arrest Of Suspected Dreaded Cultists And Recovery Of Dangerous Weapon, Charms And Other Illicit Drugs: On 24/11/2021 at about 0720hrs, while acting on a tip off, the Command surveillance team attached to ‘A’ Division raided a criminal hideout/Jungle at Gada Biu Jos,  where a wanted cultist on the Police list, one Jessy Wakili a.k.a Rapinto ‘m’ of Jenta Mangoro was arrested along side his syndicate namely, (i) Daniel Danjuma a.k.a Torres ‘m’ of Jenta Mangoro, (ii) Prince Musa ‘m’ of Angwan Mata Gada Biu, (iii) William Sunday ‘m’ of JMDB Quarters Tudun Wada and (iv) Magai Pam Angwan Chawei Gada Biu.

"Exhibits recovered from the suspects include one axe, charms, two cartons/parcel of Indian hemp and other illicit drugs. The suspects confessed to be members of the Black Axe cults and are the ones terrorizing their communities. Investigation is ongoing and suspects will soon be charged to court. 

"Arrest Of Suspected Human Traffickers: On the 01/12/2021 at about 1200hrs, one Esther Emmanuel ‘F’ and one Chigozie Asibe ‘F’ both of Kabong Gada Biu Jos reported at ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters that on the 26/11/2021 at about 1700hrs, they discovered that their daughters, one Princess Emmanuel ‘f’ aged 17years and one Rejoice Asibe ‘f’ aged 17years were not at home. 

"Upon receipt of the report, Police detectives attached to ‘A’ Division immediately swung into action and the following persons (i) Esther Sunday ‘f’ aged 26years, (ii) Jemila Thomas ‘F’ aged 36years, (iii) Victoria Danladi ‘f’ aged 36years and (iv) Joy Nnamani ‘f’ aged 18years all of Kabong Gada Biu Jos were arrested.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that they criminally conspired and traffick the girls to Mali through Lagos State. The Suspects have confessed to the crime and case has been transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). 

"Arrest Of Armed Robbery Suspect And Recovery Of Locally Made Pistol: On 1/12/2021 at about 0522hrs, the Command received a distress call that a young man who was later identified as one Mefeng Chung ‘m’ of Kabong behind the Police outpost Jos, attacked one Mary Ben ‘f’ of Gada Biu in her compound at gunpoint and dispossessed her of her Techno Hot2 mobile phone valued thirty thousand Naira only (#30,000:00). 

"On receipt of the report, the Police operatives of the Command attached to “A” Division Jos were immediately mobilized to the scene and the suspect was arrested. 

"Exhibits recovered from the suspect include one locally made pistol and the said Tecno phone. Suspect will be charge to court as soon as investigation is completed.

"Also, in another development on 7/12/2021 at about 1420hrs a notorious armed robbery suspect terrorizing Gada Biu and environs one Emmanuel Sunday “M” of Federal low-cost Jos was arrested by the Police. 

"Exhibits recovered in his possession include one locally made pistol with a live cartridge. Investigation is still ongoing suspect will be charge to court when investigation is completed.

"Arrest Of Four (4) Armed Robbery Suspects And Recovery of Firearms: Following a case of armed robbery and capable homicide reported at Shendam Division on 11/12/2021 at about 1305hrs where some unknown gunmen robbed and shot one Danjuma Yeinaan ‘m’ aged 36 years to death, Police operatives of the division in an aggressive search for the culprits, arrested one Nanven Ponbin aged 29 years, Timzing Sapko aged 26 years, Masi Bala alias Master aged 22 years, and Tata John aged 25 years all males of different addresses in connection with the case.

"Exhibits recovered from the suspect include; one fabricated AK 47 rifle, one TVS motorcycle and one ITEL Handset. The suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed. 

"Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Unlawful Possession of Firearms: Acting on a tip off from an impecceable source, that some unknown gunmen invaded and kidnapped one Mrs. Christiana Joseph in her residence to the bush on 12/12/2021 at about 2300hrs; the gallant operatives of the Anti Kidnapping unit mobilized to the kidnappers den, combed the area and rescued the victimed while the following four (4) suspects, namely; (i) Auwal Abdullahi, (ii) Abdullahi Abdullahi, (iii) Haruna Abdullahi and (iv) Abubakar Umar were arrested.

"Exhibits recovered from the suspects include, five rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and some charm. The case is under investigation.   

"Criminal Conspiracy and Kidnapping: On 26/12/2021 at about 1900hrs, some unidentified gunmen numbering about seven (7) invaded the premises of one Ishaku ‘m’ of Mai Jankai village in Barkin-Ladi and kidnapped one Lami Ishaku ‘f’ to unknown destination for ransom.

"However, based on credible and intelligent information, the victim was rescued on 01/11/2021 by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command while two suspects namely Loktok Kwom and Kabiru Musa both males were arrested in connection with the incident.

"The suspects confessed to have committed the crime during interrogation. Investigation is still in progress. 

"Unlawful Possession Of Firearms: On 27/12/2021 at about 1530hrs while on routine vehicular patrol along Mista-Ali Village, Bassa LGA, Police patrol team of the Command attached to Department of Operations (DOPs) arrested one Emmanuel Isaac aged 25 years and Benjamin Yakubu aged 24 years both males of Saya Village, Buji District Bassa LGA with two locally made pistols and one ammunition.
