As Schools have resumed across the state, the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government, Hon. Shehu Bala Usman has called on both the public and private schools to adhere strictly to COVID-19 safety protocols or face the wrath of the council. The Chairman said this while addressing some journalists immediately after Council’s stakeholders meeting held at the Jos North Local Government Secretariat yesterday.
Usman said that because the issue of safety protocols is paramount that is why the state government has set up a committee to monitor and ensure all schools in the state comply government’s directives so as to mitigate the second wave of covid-19 pandemic ravaging the whole world.
He said ” we have actually set-up a committee for the enforcement of covid-19 protocol,and by tomorrow ,we shall be going round to monitor the level of compliance”.
The chairman stressed that the committee was to also intervened in the area of exorbitant school fees charged by some Shylock proprietors mostly in private schools in the state with the view of reducing it downward adding that this period calls for sacrifice by all and sundry. “I think it’s one part the schools proprietors in the state must have to look at the hike of school fees with the view of reviewing it downward for average parents to pay,” the Chairman said.
On the harassment and intimidation of the citizens of Jos North by the security agents using motorcycles and tricycle in some cases, the chairman said he is yet to receive report to that effect and promised to investigate the allegations and any security personnel found guilty will made to face the wrath of the law.
On the Stakeholders meeting, the Chairman said it was to brainstorm on the forthcoming registration exercise of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
