The Plateau state Commissioner of Commerce and industry, Hon. Abbey Joseph Aku ended a 3 Day Tour to all Establishments and Facilities under the purview of the ministry on Friday with a call to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to patronize made in Jos products.

Speaking to African Drum immediately after the tour, the commissioner said the exercise actually opened his eyes, revealed so many things and erased the believed he hitherto had that all qualitative products flooding markets in Plateau state are imported. ..."of particular interest is the discovery that many products I usually though were imported are produced here on the Plateau. However, the challenge is that we don't appreciate what we produce here.

“I have also discovered that many of the products produced here are of better quality than those brought from other places. So, I am going to present this issue so that government agencies should see the need to patronize products that are produced here on the Plateau", he said.
Hon. Abbey on Friday visited Swan Paint, Pamtronics Nig. Ltd, Vitaform Nig. Ltd, A.B Chami, Associated Best Foods, Nasco Group of Companies, Nigeria Bottling Company PLC, and NELMCO Global Resources Where Aku met with the Chief Executives of these establishment or their representatives. He said the essence of the tour was a tradition in the ministry for a new commissioner to under study acquaint themselves with the workings of the establishment under the purview of the ministry.
Investors were unanimous on their challenges which include; funds or working capital and infrastructure.

The Hon. Commissioner however noted that he wasn't unaware of the fact that the business environment was challenging, stressing that though it is a global phenomenon and commended them for their resilience. The commissioner further stated that since their activities was in line with government agenda, it would do all within financial reality to address the challenges enumerated by them.
A comprehensive report of the Commissioner's tour would be captured in our hard copy coming out next week. Keep a date with us.
