The leader of the main opposition party in Plateau state, the
peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) and its Governorship flag bearer in the 2019
general elections, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni on Friday called on members
of the party in the state to close ranks in unity for the success of the party
in particular and Plateau state in general. " let us work as brothers and
sisters so as to build our party. We should forget happened in the past and
love one another for the interest of our party. We should not fight or deceive
one another," he said.
Useni made this statement on Friday when addressing stakeholders
of the party at his campaign office along Dogon Karfe in Jos the Plateau state
capital. Gen. Useni called today's meeting in his capacity as the leader of the
party in the state to formally brief members on the decision of the National
Working Committee ( NWC ) of the party regarding a petition written
against Sango and Gombe alleging misappropriation of funds during the 2019
general elections among other allegations. On the basis of the allegations,
Sango was suspended from office and a committee headed by Hon. Dakas Shan was
set up to oversee the affairs of the party in the state pending the outcome of
the David Mark's committee set up to look into the allegations contained in the
petition.

According to the leader of the party, the David Mark committee
submitted its report some weeks ago which prompted the invitation of
stakeholders of the party in the state to Wadata House, Abuja by the national
body of the party. He further stated that the NWC based on the findings of
the committee found Sango and Gombi not guilty of all allegations contained in
the petition and have therefore, been cleared of any wrong doing. He said that consequent upon the recommendations of the committee which is also on the way
forward, the petitioners were asked to withdraw their petition and tender an
apology in writing addressed to the national Secretariat of the party. The national
Secretariat would in turn officially write Sango exonerating him of all
allegations. It is on the basis of all these that Sango would in turn resign and
hand over to his deputy, Amos Gombi who would serve as Chairman of the party in
the state in acting capacity before the party congress in March 2020. Highpoint
of the event was the passing of vote of confidence on Hon. Sango and Hon. Gombi
by the stakeholders in line with the resolution of the NWC. The motion for the
vote of confidence was moved by Hon. Emmanuel Go'ar, former member, House of
Representatives Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam and seconded by Hon. Christopher Rin,
former Leader, Legislative House, Jos South Local Government Council.
The well attended meeting had notable elders like, Hon. John Akson
and Ngo Sarah Dokotri. The party members in the State and National Assembly
sent their apologies as most of them were engaged in the budget proposal before
the National Assembly while Sen. I.D Gyang and Hon. Peter Gyeden, member
representing BarkinLadi in the state Assembly were said to be attending to
their constituents at Nding village who came under attack on Thursday by yet to
be identified gun men.
