Mr. Joshua Nimran has vehemently denied media report that he was instrumental to the withdrawal of a rape case from Rantya Police station, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau state by victim's father, Amos Jok, a security personal with the Council.
Sahara reporters in its recent publication credited to Jok, accusing Nimran, a Director of Finance and Supplies (DFS) of Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau state of forcing him to withdraw a case he filed at the Police station against a fellow security guard (Dauda), who allegedly raped and molested his four-year-old daughter.
The DFS said he did not at any time asked Jok to withdraw the matter from the police stressing that he only invited the Assistant Director of Works of the Council being the direct boss to both Jok and the suspect to come and settle the matter between his subordinates.
Speaking further, the DFS said, “Mr Amos Jock has invited a Police Officer to the Local Government quarters, where I met them. They were about living with the police that arrested the accused, Mr Dauda who is a co-security man that was alleged to have raped a four-year-old child. I called the deputy director to come in so that the Local government quarters would not be left insecure in the event the suspect was eventually arrested". He denied any forceful demand for the withdrawal of the matter but that he only made a call to the superior officer to the complaint and the suspect and put him on notice of the development so he could make alternative arrangement for securing the quarters. " I took that decision with a clean, clear and sincere mind but my decision was misinterpreted” he said.
The DFS further said that as a director who is residents within the LGC quarters, he urged the police officer invited to officially reported the security guard to the boss of the complainant and the suspect at the Works Department instead arresting the suspect on his duty post without the knowledge of their superior officer.
Nimran vehemently denied the Sahara Reporters story dated 28th August 2019, titled,"Exposed: How Local Government Council Director in Jos threatened man to withdraw daughter's sexual assault case" adding that he did not stop anyone from seeking justice, not even advising Jock from seeking for his legal right. He further expressed surprise that a medium like Sahara Reporters would stoop so low to engaged in bias reportage which is at variance with the ethics of journalism profession which promotes balancing and objectivity.“I am highly surprised that a medium would chose to go to press with a story such as the one under reference without making effort to hear the sides of other parties involved in the spirit of fairness and objectivity”, said Nimran.
The DFS expressed surprise at media report that the matter was withdrawn as the matter was under investigation by the police and not withdrawn as reported by the Sahara Reporters as the accused was still in detention.
Mr Jock, it was however learned, spoke to Sahara Reporters on Wednesday, that his daughter was allegedly sexually abused on Friday evening by one Mr Dauda a security guard with the LGC.
