PLHA: INEC releases Time Table for
By-Election in Pengana Constituency

The
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the time table
and schedule of activities for the by-election into the Pengana (Bassa 1) State
Constituency of Plateau State.
A
statement signed by Osaretin Imahiyereobo, HOD, Voter Education and Publicity
said the by- election is scheduled for August 3rd 2019, in line with
Section 30 (3) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).
According
to the statement, the conduct of primaries by Political parties in line with
Section 87 of the Electoral Act ends on July 10, while the last day for
submission of Forms CF001, CF002 and nomination forms at INEC headquarters
comes up on July 12th. It added that the last day for publication of Forms
CF001, list of nominated candidates and submission of names and addresses of
party agents to the Electoral Officer is scheduled for July 19.
The
statement further stated that campaigns are expected to end at midnight (24
hours prior to polling day on August 1 in line with Section 99(1) of the
Electoral Act 2010.
It
would be recalled that on June 24, the Speaker of Plateau State House of
Assembly, Hon.Abok Nuhu Ayuba notified the INEC through a letter dated 20th
June, 2019, of the existence of a vacancy in the State House of Assembly
following the death of the Member Elect from the Pengana State Constituency,
Late Hon. Ezekiel Bauda Afon after he was declared winner on the night of March
2019.
