Vote Lalong again for Continuity-

The chairman
of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Gideon Dung Davou (JP) has called
on the people of Plateau State to vote the Executive Governor of Plateau State,
Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for a second term for the purpose of continuity,
unity, progress and in the spirit of zoning, fairness and justice.
The council Chairman made the call when members of the Plateau Independent Publishers'
Association (PIPA) let by its Chairman, Chief Amb. Nanyah A. Daman (JP) paid a
courtesy call and a familiarization tour to Jos South LGC Secretariat Bukuru, recently.
In his
remarks, the Council Chairman stated that the visit of PIPA was not only timely
but God-Sent because it was coming at the heels of the 2019 General Elections
where the electorates are eager and waiting for the Press and Members of the
fourth estate of the realm to guide them on who to vote through their
objective analysis, advertorials, supplements, features and editorials.

Hon. Davou appealed to PIPA on behalf of the
rescue administration for a synergy and Support in publicizing its
wonderful activities of delivering the dividends of democracy in the last three and half years even as the elections draw nearer. He urged the people of plateau state to return Governor Lalong in
order to consolidate on the achievements so far realized stressing that a vote
for Lalong is a vote for continuity. In this direction, the Chairman promised
to partner with PIPA for mutual benefits.
He stated that unlike in other local
governments in other states, the 17 local Government Chairmen in Plateau state
since the inception of the Lalong government have enjoyed tremendous freedom
and support from Gov. Lalong and thanked the Governor for the flexibility which
has been the basis for their tremendous achievements in so many areas.

boss went further to enumerate his achievements to include but not limited to
the electrification of two districts namely, Zawan and
Diyei; Completion of a Primary Health Care Clinic, Printing, production
and distribution of exercise books, the purchase and complete payment of Jos
South LGC Guest House despite lean resources, doubling of internally generated
revenue which has enabled the council to undertake certain critical projects
outside of Joint Accounts and Allocation Committee (JAAC) funding, the adoption
of Single Treasury Account (TSA) in line with the All Progressives Congress
(APC) Federal Government’s Policy of accountability, Transparency and the fight
against corruption.

Speaking on
discipline and the fight against corruption in the Council, he posited that
Council workers were always prompt to work as the Council management has zero
tolerance for corruption as a circular was issued directing revenue collectors
to pay all monies into the council account promptly. The council boss who is also an evangelist
added that the council has contributed immensely to the Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs) camp and as a missionary, he once invited his colleagues from
South Africa who also donated to the IDPs camp in Bukuru Jos South LGC.
On security
in Jos South LGA, Hon. Davou said the council holds regular security meetings
to engage stakeholders like traditional rulers, religious leaders, market
leaders etc on the need to remain peaceful with their neighbors. He also
reiterated his loyalty and commitment to the APC and Governor Lalong led administration
despite recent de camping of some people from Jos South.

Earlier in
his opening remarks, Chief Daman said the courtesy and the familiarization tour
to Jos South LGC secretariat was to intimate the council boss and his management
team of the resuscitation of PIPA, the only Publishers association registered
with the Plateau state Government and also recognized by it and the need to
synergize with the LGC for wider spread of its activities from the grassroots
to the state, the national and international levels.
