The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau state has condemn in totality the killing of innocent people at Lopamdyet area close to Guratopp in Rayfield yesterday night by unknown gun men. In a press statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party Sir J T Akans and a copy made available to African Drum, the party decried the continues killings of innocent Plateau people adding that the ugly incidents have been going on even with the security check points everywhere within and outside the state capital.

According to the statement, “this has become clear that the government has abandoned its responsibility of protecting its citizens. What is the primary responsibility of government if not to protect people’s lives and properties?”

According to the party, while killings are going on in the state, tertiary institutions have embarked on strike as a result of failure of government policies while governor Lalong was busy wasting the state resources on a foreign trip which the party believed have no direct benefit to the people.

The statement continued, “It is unfortunate and embarrassing that Governor Lalong went on lobbying the Presidency to be part of Mr President's visit to China, Most disheartening is the fact that when his request was turned down, out of desperation and lack of priority, he on his own traveled to meet with Mr President in China, leaving his people in a traumatized condition.

"The Peoples Democratic Party is saddened by this trend of ugly events going on in some parts of the state, particularly Northern and Central Senatorial Zones.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the first families the deceased and injured, indeed, the people of Plateau State”.
