According to the eye witness, the youth, in their droves went straight to a popular shop opposite St. Joseph Block industry, ordered for assorted drinks and refused to settle the bill. One of the shop assistants was said to have used a broken bottle on one of the youths causing a deep cut on his limb. He was rushed to a nearby chemist but was advised to go to a hospital as his condition was beyond the chemist. This development was said to have infuriated the youths the more who turned wild and blocked the high way and began to harass innocent people. According to a security officer, all pleas by security operatives fell on deaf ears as some of the youths even launched an attacked on them. This development prompted the security operatives to shoot in the air to disperse the youths.
