PLATEAU WINS NATIONAL AWARD AS MSME OF THE YEAR

Gov Simon Lalong of Plateau state has been commended for supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise through the provision of technical skills, markets and finance. Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President, stated this while presenting an award of Excellence to the Mr Jerry Mallo from Plateau State as overall winner of the best MSME.

 A statement by the state commissioner of Information and communication, Yakubu Dati stated that the event which took place at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja was the maiden edition of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise award initiated by the Federal Government to reward and encourage outstanding small business owners
The statement quoted the Vice President thus, "We have also partnered the CBN and commercial Banks to launch a credit facility available to MSME,s loans from 2 million to 10 million naira with a period of over 5 to 7 years and little or no collateral with 5% interest rate.
All that you will do is to provide the committee with bankable business proposal and guarantors." 

It further stated that while speaking at the event, an elated Governor Simon  Lalong said " I am utterly proud of Bennie Ventures (recipient of the award) and the work the rescue administration is doing through PLASMIDA and other agencies to encourage small and medium enterprises in the State."

He is said to have expressed joy that the Rescue administration's strategies in galvanizing the State from a civil service state to entrepreneurship are yielding results. The statement further quoted Gov. Lalong thus,
"I'm not surprised because in the past, two years this young man has made me and my state proud in MSME. Let me use this opportunity on behalf of plateau state to appreciate federal government for introducing the scheme... For this purpose, I have awarded a scholarship to this young man to study in any university in the world. Secondly, I will start building a 3 bedroom flat for him and i will also give his father a brand new car"  


According to the statement, Mr. Mallo in his acceptance speech appreciated the State, Federal Government and supporters promising to strive higher for the development of the country.
He is said to have gone home with a car and one million naira as his prize while others who won other categories were given five hundred thousand naira each.
Malo is further said to have specializes in the fabrication of agricultural machine which earned him the national award as MSME of the year.

 Observers believe that Gov Lalong had provided enabling environment for businesses to strive in diverse ways in the State through the establishment of the Plateau State Micro Enterprises Development Agency (PLASMEDIA) and the Plateau State Microfinance Enterprises Development Agency amongst others.

As the first state to establish One-Stop-Shop in Nigeria, Lalong demonstrated his commitment towards making the State an industrial hub for the nation.

 Governor Lalong is said to have been accompanied by member of the National Assembly, Hon Idris Ahmed, members of the Plateau State Executive Council, Jude Dakur and Yakubu Dati as well as Haggai Gutap, Director General, Plateau State Micro Enterprises Development Agency (PLASMEDIA)
