The Plateau State Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) Hon. Bashir Musa Sati has vehemently denied imposing any candidate on Jenta Apata Ward during the 5th May, 2018 Ward Congress in Plateau State North Central Nigeria.
Recalled that a group that claimed to be APC members in Jenta Apata Ward alleged that the leadership of the party in the state imposed Hon. Suleiman Abba, on them as ward chairman. Spokesman of the group, elder Simon Mancha alleged that Abba was unpopular, unacceptable and had performed below expectation during his first tenure and therefore has failed his people and not fit to continue as chairman of the ward. According to Mancha, because Abba was serving the interest of very few individual of the state EXCO members of the party, they wanted him to continue, thus the reason for his imposition on them.

However, responding to the allegation, the Plateau State Secretary of the PPC said, the requirement of the party constitution is clear as far as the congresses were concerned which can be done either by endorsement and affirmation or outright election.
“On the matter under reference, members of the APC in Jenta Apata Ward opted for the latter but which in any case, does not stop any body from contesting. Because, even thought our constitution recognizes affirmation it does not stop any other qualified member of our party from contesting”.
Hon. Sati said that the said group was in his house few days ago on the issue and he advised them accordingly. However, to his surprised, instead of his heading to his advice, the group decided to go to the media prompting many to wonder if they are really loyal members of the APC. He observed that the only way to do away with a party official you dislike as far as politics is concerned is to contest against such a person

The state party chief scribe said that three options were made available to the group.
“First and foremost, the only way in doing away with anybody you don’t like as far as politics is concern is to contest against the person. But the truth as far as this issue is concerned; no body bought the form to contest the chairmanship position with Abba. For the above reason, I made the following option to them; I advised them to either lodge their complaint to the state chairman of the APC Hon Latep Dabang; stakeholders of the party in Jos North LGA (comprising of the Speaker, two Commissioners and other prominent party stalwarts) or the appeal committee constituted by the National Headquarters of our party”.

According to the party scribe, the group did not heed to his advice by refusing to utilize any of the channels to express their grievances. Instead, they decided to go public using the media platforms prompting many to wonder if they really have the interest of the party at heart.
Sati further said that the constitution of the party is clear on issue of election is clear on issues of election and cannot be manipulated. The scribe further described his displeasure for the fact that the group is raising their issue having reached a consensus with it by way of conceding certain positions to it.
