PDP PRIMARIES: SANGO,
GOMBI ALLEGEDLY TRUNCATE EXERCISE IN KANKE
Friday 17th November, 2017
By Emmanuel Atabat
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in
Plateau state that was carried throughout the 17 Local government areas yesterday
was not conducted in Kanke LGA. Information reaching African Drum has it that the Chairman of the exercise in Kanke,
Hon. Kemi Nicholas Nshe announced the suspension of the exercise due to
discrepancies in the list of delegates.
Delegates were said to have converged at the venue
of the election waiting for the exercise to take off when Hon. Nshe suddenly
announced that the list of delegates for the exercise has been tampered with,
as the one from the party office did not correspond with the copy the security
operatives submitted.
However, some of the delegates that spoke with African Drum accused the state party
chairman and the deputy, Hon. D.T. Sango and Hon. Amos Gombi respectively of
doctoring the delegates list and changed 18 names all in an effort to favour their
candidate.
Hon. D.T. Sango |
However, in his response, Hon. Gombi vehemently
denied the allegation describing it as a figment of imagination of its authors.
According to him, Hon. Kemi Nshe, the chairman of the committee for the primary
in Kanke deliberately refused to do the needful probably to satisfy interest of
some people by refusing to use the authentic list of delegates from the
authentic party LGA chairman.
Hon. Dauda Wapen which is a harmonised delegates list submitted by Barrister Timothy Parlong (the chairman of the Congress Committee to Kanke in the last party congress to elect delegates) and submitted to the party. He wondered why Hon. Nshe will rely on a list provided by the security instead of that from the party secretariat adding that in any case, all has been sorted out and election will be conducted in Kanke LGA today.
