ANOTHER ATTACK IN RIYOM: TWO KILLED

Two members of Wereng community in Riyom Local government in Plateau state North Central Nigeria were gruesomely murdered by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen yesterday. The community was in a state of pandemonium when African Drum visited it. According to an elder in the community, the victims, Bulus Dantaro and Dung Musa were ambushed by their assailants on their way home from Riyom yesterday. Our man reported that the bodies of the victims were inflicted with deep machete cuts.

The transition committee chairman of Riyom Local Government Hon Emmanuel Danboyi Jugu who was at the scene of the incident condemned the act describing it as inhuman and barbaric and called on community members to remain calm adding that government is doing all that is necessary to bring


an end to the attacks. In his reaction, Hon Nuhu Daniel Pam called on both the state and Federal Government to fish out the sponsors and perpetrators of incessant attacks on Riyom in particular and Plateau state in general and brought to book to serve as deterrent to others and instill confidence in the people. He further condemned the utterances of some Fulani leaders in the community which according to him “are unpalatable”

Riyom Local Government has suffered series of attacks of recent. The killing of two people yesterday brought the number to 12 in last one week according to a source.
