Justice Daniel Longji of High Court 8 Jos has granted bail to
Mrs Stella Orji and Dr. Odeh Michael Owoicho in the sum of N1million and 2
suretees each. The two are standing trial on a 9 count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, concealment of stolen
property, criminal conspiracy, criminal misappropriation, theft and forgery.
Delivering Judgment on the applications of the accused, Justice Longji held
that the prosecutor has not convinced the court on why bail should not be
granted to the accused. Consequently, he granted the bail on the following
conditions; N1million and 2 sureetees each; one of each of the suretees will
deposit a Certificate of Occupancy on a property within the jurisdiction of the
court; the 2 suretees must sworn to an affidavit of means and the 2 accused
must deposit their International Passports with the court.
Recall that the Commissioner of Police Plateau
State Command is prosecuting a 35 year old Mrs. Stella Sharon Ifeoma Orji and a
40 year old Medical Doctor, Odeh Michael Owoicho on the charges mentioned
above.
The
matter is said to have been reported to the Commissioner of Police through a
letter of complaint by one Maduabuchi Orji, husband to Stella and the Managing
Director of Choco Condiments Nig. Ltd No. 9 Mission Road Old Bukuru Park Jos on
2nd April, 2016 alleging that his wife who is a Director of his
company and was in charged of Jos Branch connived with one, Dr. Owoicho ( whom
he also alleged has been having illicit relationship with his wife) and
embezzled the sum of N94million from
the Jos branch Company which ultimately led to its collapse prompting the
relieved of all the staff working in the branch. The matter is adjourned to the
9th and 10th of October, 2017 for accelerated hearing.
