Ahead the Supreme Court Judgment in the case between Senator Ahmed Makarfi and Senator Modu Sherrif factions slated for Wednesday, 12th July, 2017, the Youth Coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 19 Northern States Hon. Joel Jonathan Zilani has called on all members of the Party to respect the decision of the Supreme Court and give support to whomever the decision favours. Hon. Zilani made this statement while speaking to selected journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital on Tuesday, 11th July, 2017.

He said that his group is in possession of information of alleged plans by both the Senators Sheriff;s and Makarfi’s groups of their intensions to leave the PDP to other political parties most especially one of the recently registered political parties if the decision of the Supreme court does not favours any of the groups. According to him, the PDP remains the biggest political party in Nigeria and in Africa with better ideals and programmes that can take Nigeria to the promised land stressing that why the party is in this squabbles is as a result of infiltration by outsiders aimed at destabilizing the party and reduced its strength.  Decamping to other parties by the PDP members would fall in line with the wish and desire of PDP’s detractors whose aim is to see the reduction of the strength of the party.

“We are calling on all the leaders and supportes of the factional groups to consider the interest of the party against personal interest as enunciated by the PDP Governor’s Forum calling on both factions not to defect to other parties irrespective of the decision of the Supreme Court Judgment”. He said.
The Youth Leader added that the PDP Youths in the 19 States have offered to support whoever the Judgement favours on Wednesday.

Hon. Zilani further commended members of the PDP, most especially those in Plateau State for their steadfastness and tremendous support to the party over the years.
