LATE ADEWI ADAMS DICK

It was another day of mourning as residents of Rukuba Road Jos watched as the remains of one of their youth Adewi Adams Dick was committed to mother earth today. He was killed two days ago about 9pm by unknown gunmen at Gada Biyu, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. A source close to the family told African Drum that late Adams was working in an organization in Abuja, but his family lives in Jos so he was in Jos to see them. The source informed us that though late Adam’s family is in Bright Way, Rubuka Road, he decided to visit his mother (whom we gathered has separated with his father and is now living in Gada Biyu) where the incident occurred.

Also narrating her story, Adam’s mother said that her son arrived her compound around 8:40pm on that faithful day but only dropped his traveling bag and went out immediately after informing her that he was accosted by a gang of boys who almost snatched his bag but he escaped. She added that it wasn’t up to ten minutes when Adams left her compound that she received the shocking news of his attack by guy men.

During the burial, those that testified admonished the good virtues of Late Adams whom they described as a man of humility and hardworking.
In his sermon at the funeral service, Pastor Samuel Ayantoye, the senior pastor of Living Mercy Church, charged parents to live up to their responsibilities, observing that the reason why some young people engage in criminality today is as a result of negligence by parents.

He decried the rampant cases of murders and assassinations in our communities these days and called on people to turn to God as the only remedy to the menace. He encouraged the congregation to take solace in the fact that Adams as a believer is resting with the lord where all believers will one day meet to part no more.

Pastor Ayantoye further called on the perpetrators of the nefarious act to repent and turn to God before they met their Waterloo in line with the popular saying that “he that lives by the sword dies by it”.

Late Adams was buried in his family compound, opposite ECWA Gospel Church Rukuba Road. He is survived by his wife and a year old baby girl.

LATE KENNETH ACHIGAK JOSEPH
You would recall that African Drum reported two months ago of how Kenneth Achigak Joseph (29 years old) was gruesomely murdered by Unknown gun men, close to a place called Trailer Garage (about half a kilometer where Adams is buried today).

AS REPORTED

According to an eye witness, two young men wearing  red attires walked up to Kenneth, who was seated by the roadside playing computer game in his cell phone, and shot him at close range on his face killing him instantly. The murderers started shooting sporadically, ostensibly to scare away people and then disappeared into thin air within a twinkle of an eye. In that report, an expert submitted   that “we are in a precarious situation as our society is wrestling with how best to deal with the darker side of humanity as violence and criminality are seen by our youths as necessary and justified means of resolving issues”. All efforts to speak with the Police, Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Command proved abortive as calls made through his cell phone kept ringing without response.
