Dr. Obong Sunday Etukudoh, Provost FSMLST Jos

The Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology (Science) FSMLST Jos, has gotten approval to host the Fellowship Training of West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory science
A copy of the approval letter sighted by this medium on Monday shows that it was sequel to a report of Accreditation Visitation Team of the College to FSMLST on 20th October, 2022. With the current development, the School is to host the Fellowship Training in the Facilities of; Bacteriology, Blood Transfusion Science, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Molecular Diagnostic & Translational Science, Parasitology & Entomology and Virology.

Experts and observers have attributed this great achievement to the resilience and committment of the current administration of the institution led by Dr. Sunday Obong Etukudoh.
Others also posited that no doubt, Etukudoh's achievements in terms of human and infrastructural development in the institution which has never been recorded by any of past Chief Executives since its inception (which obviously qualified the institution for the Accreditation) equally earned Dr. Etukudoh a renewal for the post of Provost for a second term of four years.

Linda Akanbi and Godfrey Kawu both medical practitioners noted that having Jos as a Centre for the Fellowship Training of West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory science would definitely have positive impact on our economy. "This development would impact positively on the economy of not Plateau State but that of the country at large as we would be having students from other African Countries and beyond coming for their Postgraduate training and that would definitely boost our currency and the economy", Linda said.

In his comment, the Provost of FSMLST Jos, Dr. Sunday Obong Etukudoh gave glory to God for making what seemed to be a dream come to reality. He also appreciated President Mohammadu Buhari for the attention given to the health sector towards ensuring a robust health system. Etukudoh equally appreciated the National Assembly, the Hon. Minister of health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire as well as the Host Community for their unflinching support.

Recall that a Team from the West Africa Post-Graduate College of Medical Laboratory science was in FSMLST Jos two months ago to assess facilities available in the School to support the training of Fellowship Programme. At the conclusion of the assessment, leader of the Team and President of West Africa Post-Graduate College of Medical Laboratory science, Prof. Nafiu Amidu while addressing the press said FSMLST possessed the necessary facilities to support the Fellowship Programme.
