Jos North-North State Constituency: Hassan promises meaningful and effective representation

Jos North-North Constituency needs vibrant and visionary representation in order to achieve the long set goals that seem beyond its reach since the advent of this democratic dispensation in 1999. This is the submission of Hon. Abdulkadir Hassan, an aspirant under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) seeking the mandate of the people to represent the Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly in 2023.

In an exclusive chat with African Drum in Jos recently, the former Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to late Haruna Maitala who represented Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly stated that the experience he garnerd at the National Assembly further spurred him, increased his passion and it was the reason he has offered himself to serve the Constituents passionately and wholeheartedly if given the opportunity. According to Hassan, "I would not be ignorant or deliberately ignored the vast powers given to me by the constitution (as a legislator) to do the needful for my constituency.

"Therefore, if given the mandate, I would (as my primary responsibility) sponsor bills that would not only better the lives of my constituents but the lives of the entire people of Plateau State but most importantly, women and children".

Speaking further, the aspirant said that in addition to good legislation, he would attract meaningful projects to the constituency and secure employment for the constituents from the executive and other relevant Institutions (either public or private) through lobbying. This, he said would be in addition to lobbying and ensuring that there is an improvement in the dilapidated conditions of infrastructure in the constituency.

"I would strongly liaise with the National Institute for democratic and legislative studies (NIDLS) for capacity building in the areas of law making in order to have wider and a good sense of legislation.

"And as a former staff of the National Assembly, I will use my influence and connections to establish a cordial relationship with the commission and members to attract tangible projects to my constituency", Hon. Hassan said.
