A group known as Forum of Past and Present Students Leaders Plateau North has called on Senator Istifanus Gyang (who currently represents Plateau North Senatorial District in the National Assembly) to recontest come 2023.
The forum is made up of Student leaders such as Students Union Government (SUG) Presidents, National Association of Plateau State Students (NAPSS) Presidents, Ethnic Presidents, non indigenous students' and other affiliated Unions of Plateau Northern Senatorial Zone comprising Bassa, Jos North, Jos South, Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos East respectively.
The position of the Forum was made known during a press conference at Ken Palace Jos on Wednesday.
Reading the text, the Chairman of the Forum, Israel Joseph stated the call became imperative taking into cognizance the fact that Sen. Gyang has performed credibly well and made tremendous achievements in the upper chambers of the National Assembly.

The group particularly noted and appreciated Gyang's outstanding representation and the efforts he has put towards changing the narrative and fortune of the educational sector of the zone which hosts about 24 higher Institutions, 159 secondary schools and 223 primary schools.
It also noted with pride and satisfaction that Sen. Gyang has constructed appreciable number of secondary and primary classroom blocks across the local government areas that make up the senatorial District to include; Reconstruction of 3 Nos. Class room block, extension of offices and library with furnishing of ECWA Theological College Zabolo Bassa LGA, construction of 3Nos. Classroom and furnishing in Nabor Community Jos North LGA, construction of 3Nos. Classroom block and furnishing in Zinariya community Bauchi Ring Road, Jos North LGA, 4Nos classroom block, Janruwa Community Jos East LGA, construction of 3Nos classroom block and furnishing in Sambak community Riyom LGA, construction of 6Nos classroom block with furnishing (in conjunction with PTA) at GSS Gwakim, Barkin Ladi, scholarship awards to 600 students among others. Consequently, the forum said, "it is on this premise and other gargantuan strides in other sectors, although we have limited our address to education that we make the clarion call on Senator, Barr. Istifanus Dung Gyang to recontest the position of Senator of Plateau North come 2023.
"We speak for the majority of our teeming Nigerian Students who have endorsed this move we are commencing today on their behalf".

The group further posited that through out his sojourn in the civil service and House of Representatives, Gyang demonstrated rare feats of courage and dexterity on issues of governance and state which has endeared him to the youths and students.
The forum hoped Gyang responds to its call as swiftly as possible so it can commence widespread consultations and engagements toward realizing its lofty goal.
