An elder statesman and one of the
founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. John Abayi Akson
has described the final peaceful resolution of the crisis which rocked the
Plateau state chapter of the party as major step towards reclaiming power from
the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). Consequently, he commended
stakeholders of the party both at the state and at the national levels for
setting in place proper and adequate mechanism that eventually led to the
peaceful resolution.
Speaking to African Drum recently, Hon. Akson said
he was highly elated and delighted over the development adding that he has been
eagerly expecting to see the PDP family in the state re - united. "As a
father, you would always have sleepless nights when your family is disunited
and your home in shambles.
"We did all
we could to bring an end to the crisis that engulfed our party in the state and
we did that with high degree of commitment and sincerity and our efforts paid
off with the final peaceful resolution last week.
"So, I am a
happy father. It is in this regard that I am extending my gratitude and
appreciation to stakeholders of our great party both at the state and at the
national for their immense contributions that led to the final peaceful
resolution.
"I also want
to use this medium to call on all leaders and members of our party to be more
committed, united and exhibit high degree of loyalty for the progress of the
party.
"I strongly
believe that with this development, we are now prepare more than ever before to
reclaim power from the APC come 2023", Hon. Akson said.
The Second
Republic politician further said that with the current development, he was
optimistic of a credible, free and fair Congresses that would produce competent
leaders who would move the party to an enviable height.
Recall that the
Plateau state chapter of the party was enmeshed in crisis that lingered on for
several months leading to the voluntary resignation of the then state Chairman
of the party, Hon. Damishi Sango. However, after series of meetings of
stakeholders of the party, a peaceful and final resolution was achieved which
saw the emergence of Hon. Yakubu G. Chocho, (the former state Organizing
Secretary) as its new state Chairman. This development came just few weeks to
the party Congresses scheduled for March, 2020.
