The Afizere community in Plateau
state North Central Nigeria has called on Governor Simon Lalong to hasten up
the completion of the ongoing infrastructural development and for the
establishment of new ones in Izere land. This is contained in a text of a
speech delivered by the National President, Afizere Cultural and Community
Development Association ( ACCDA), Ada (cmr) Azi Waziri Atu, on the occasion of
Ikos Izere,( an annual Festival of Arts and Culture) of the Afizere people.
According to
comrade Atu, " it is most gratifying that the occasion we are gladly
witnessing is as result of the peaceful atmosphere of Plateau state led by the
amiable Governor, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Simon Bako Lalong and the Chairman, Northern
Governors' Forum.
“We are also
grateful for his inclusive nature of administration and identifying with the
Izere nation in all aspect of human endeavours. Recall that the Executive
Governor was personally at this venue for the Coronation and Presentation of
2nd Class Staff of Office to the Agwom Jos Izere Chiefdom in the Jos North LGA
on the 13th December, 2019.
“Needles
therefore to repeat our requests for the completion of the massive on- going
infrastructural development in Izere land and the demand for new ones as
captured in my speech with very positive response from the Governor, such as
The Zarazon Fobur Road, Fobur - Angware, completion of Fobur-Maijuju,
Street Light from Haske to JUTH, Water Supply of Lamingo Community and
others", said Atu.
The Ikos Izere is
an annual festival and Comrade Atu stated that the 2020 edition started 30th
December, 2019 with visits to Sights and Sounds of historical value to the
Izere nation adding that on the 31st of December, a symposium was held where
papers by erudite scholars in Izere nation were presented and X- rayed
contemporary issues affecting the progress and development of the Izere nation.
The 2020 Izere
festival witnessed participants from within and outside Nigeria.
