Hon. Emmanuel Go'ar has described the event that occurred at the Plateau State Secretariat of the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP Plateau state) in the early hours of today as “coup attempt ".

Addressing members of the media at the PDP State Secretariat, Go'ar, a member of the Plateau State Executive Committee of the PDP (SEC), said that some people invaded the party Secretariat at about 6am with the aim of holding a purported SEC meeting without the knowledge of the State Acting Chairman, Hon. Amos Gombi who Go'ar said was on official duty to AkwaI bom. Consequently, Go'ar said that action amounted to a coup plot. “What happened this morning can be said to be a coup attempt. We woke up this morning to hear that some people came to our party Secretariat at about 6am to hold State Executive meeting. I want say categorically clear that I am a member of the SEC and that nobody has invited me to any EXCO meeting. That shows that some people have an agenda to destroy this party and some of us that have worked night and day to strengthened the party would not fold our arms and allow few individuals to destroy it," said Go'ar.

The former Speaker Plateau state House of Assembly and former member who represented Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam at the National Assembly further stated that Hon. Gombi, the State Acting Chairman of the PDP has not directed for any SEC meeting to be held today stressing that any statement by anybody to that effect is null and void.  "The state Acting Chairman is on official duty to Akwa Ibom and should be on his way returning. When he returns, he would arrange for a proper State Executive Council Meeting of Plateau PDP. Therefore, any meeting that is purportedly held should be disregarded by genuine Plateau PDP members and await directives from the Acting Chairman who is on his way back from Akwa Ibom," Gombi said.
The SEC member further made it categorically clear that the PDP on the Plateau under the leadership of Hon. Amos Gombi is one and firmly united and warned against impersonation on Gombi's authority by anybody stressing that the party would not hesitate in taking appropriate disciplinary action against such impersonators when the party finally convenes at the instance of Acting Chairman.

He said that all issues concerning members of the party have since been resolved and accepted by all members of the party which saw the emergence of Gombi as Acting Chairman of the party. "All the issues that caused misunderstanding in our party were brought to a close by the National Working Committee, the resolutions which were read to you by the out-gone state Chairman, our respected Hon. DT Sango. The resolutions were very clear that the allegations purportedly written by the 16 of the EXCO members of the state were found to be false and misleading. Hence, they were asked to withdraw the allegations against our out gone Chairman which they did. The next  was that if Sango so wished, should resign which he honourably did on his volition and handed over to his deputy as directed by the National Working Committee," said Hon. Go'ar.

The SEC further registered his dismay on the behavior of those that brought security personnel that harassed their supporters at the Party Secretariat saying that investigation would surely be conducted and those found guilty will face the disciplinary action in line with the constitution of the party.
Go'ar while answering a question from a journalist detest the manner in which members of the National Assembly from Plateau state debased themselves by jettisoning due process and engaging in acts of lawlessness wondering whether that act was in fulfilment of the people's mandate. He wondered why anybody holding any grudge against the Acting Chairman would not channeled such grievance to the national secretariat of the party but would rather resort into taking the laws into their hands.

African Drum investigation reveals sporadic shooting at the PDP State Secretariat along Yakubu Gowon way Jos on Monday.
