An elder
statesman and staunch member of the All Progressive Congress, Hon Jok Alamba
has called on Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, the flag bearer of the Peoples
Democratic Party in the just concluded Governorship election in Plateau state
to accept defeat because, according to him, he loose in a free and fair
contest. Alamba said he had so much respect for Useni but the fact remains that
he loose in a free and fair contest and according to him, “ real politicians
accept defeat” He however, called on Lalong to see his victory as a very big
challenge to meet the high expectations of the Plateau people adding that he
saw his emergence as the will of God.
Hon Alamba who spoke to our reporter in Jos immediately after the conduct of the supplementary election and the eventual declaration of Lalong as the winner also used the opportunity and
congratulated him and President Muhammadu Buhari on their
landslide victory and further charged all
elected members under the platform of the APC
to ensure transparency and
commitment to the well-being of all Nigerian irrespective of religious or
ethnic affiliations.
He also used the platform and congratulated the Plateau State Chairman of
the APC, Hon Letep Dabang, the Chief of
staff Government House Chief John Dafaan, the Director General Buhari /Lalong campaign Council, Arc. Pam
Dung Dung Gyang and other stakeholders who contributed immensely to ensure the
victory of the APC in the State.
According to
him, the re-election of Governor Simon Bako Lalong didn't come to him as a
surprise because of his humble disposition stressing that Lalong has demonstrated
that he is a good leader who is also considerate and takes the plight of the people
seriously in spite of condemnations by few others..
He said that
the spirit of impatient display against the leadership of the party in the
state was a clear indication that some people are very quick to pass judgement. He advised Lalong to consider his re- election
as a task to re-positioning the state and work hard to ensure that he achieve a lot
in this second tenure and leave a legacy.
He assured
Nigerians that the Buhari administration would surely delivered on its mandate
and for this reason, he said Nigerians have every reason to have high
expectations. “This government is full of goodwill and Buhari meant business to
transform the country” said Alamba.
The APC
stalwart said this administration needs to be applauded for its unrelenting
effort in the fight against corruption and the Boko Haram insurgent adding that
unlike in the past, Nigeria is now safe under Buhari
