Ayuba Burki abandons his people, returns
to his vomit, says Isaac Wadak

A
stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State and Senatorial
aspirant in the 2018 PDP primaries in the State, Isaac Wadak has likened the
alleged decision of Ayuba Gufwan Burki to dump the PDP for the ruling All
Progressive Congress (APC) to the
proverbial dog returning to its vomit.
Speaking
to some journalists in Jos on Thursday, the retired permanent secretary in the
Plateau State Civil Service stated that he learnt the purported resignation of
Burki from the PDP in the news stressing that given our human nature, Burki was
entitled to be angry and bitter taking into account the reasons he advanced
which he said prompted his resignation from the party one of which was that he
was denigrated.
“Having
read his reasons for leaving, I will say Burki as a human being, is angry and
bitter. He raised quite a number of issues but the only one that readily comes
to my mind now is that he was denigrated when his name was presented for
consideration as running mate to the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP. But as
far as I know regarding this issue, the party has already offered an apology
and as children of God, we are encouraged to forgive one another because we are
all human beings full of limitations.”
Wadak
said that when he learnt of Burki’s intention, he wondered why would Burki
suddenly decided to abandon his people. “I think Burki too is not comfortable
with the decision he took because going through his resignation letter, he even
said that his genuine friends may not be happy over his decision. I am one of
them and I am actually not happy. I have asked and posted series of questions
in the social media and up to this moment, I have still not gotten any response
from anybody. You see, it’s not just about Ayuba Burki alone; it’s about the
people and their mandate. So, the question is; has he abandoned the stolen
mandate which was given to him by the people? We also know he has a petition in
the tribunal; what becomes of the matter? Has he also abandoned the matter?” Wadak
asked rhetorically.
He also believed that Burki’s decision was taken out of anger
and bitterness and that he might equally not have consulted his people before taken his
decision adding that any decision taken as a result of anger always have
negative consequences.
“I
am not sure he consulted his people. He is bitter and angry but do you remember
what happened in 2015? The people of Plateau State got angry and took a
decision as a result of their anger. It was an irrational decision and today,
they are living with the consequences of that decision. It’s so unfortunate
that people take certain decisions out of anger and bitterness only for them to
regret it later. I am telling you that over 90% of decisions taken out of anger
and bitterness always end up in regret.
Wadak
further stated that Burki’s movement to the APC amounted to him returning to
his vomit taking into cognizance his position and comments in the past against
the party. He also wished that Burki had moved to a stronger political
party other than the APC because according to him,” the APC is not strong in
the state taking into account its woeful performance in its
almost four years in power”.
He
expressed confidence in the Sango led Exco in the state and urged it to
maintained the spirit of addressing issues raised by members of the party so as
to sustain the spirit of fairness and objectivity.
