YEARNINGS OF THE PEOPLE, SAYS TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS STRENGTHENED FOR PEACE.

The Plateau
state Government has reassured the people of the state the Lalong led rescue
administration will continue to respond to the yearnings and aspirations of the
people. This is contained in a statement by the state Commissioner of
Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati and a copy made available to African Drum today.
According to the statement, the creation of
new Chiefdoms and upgrading of existing ones by Governor Lalong will strengthened
the traditional institutions towards making meaningful impact to the
peace-building architecture of the State.
Dati further
urged members of the public to note that the creation of new Chiefdoms of Ibaas
in BarkinLadi, Ngas in Kanke and Byan in Langtang South, exist under the
Chairmanship of the GbongGwom Jos, the NgolllongNgas and the PonzhiTarok accordingly.
He emphasized that the upgrade of the Anaguta Chiefdom under the Ujah Anaguta,
and the Aten Chiefdom under the Atar Aten of Ganawuri, will promote
accountability of the traditional institutions.
He stated
that some of these chiefdoms created and Gazetted In 2006, but set aside
by the past administration, have been restored by the Lalong administration in
the spirit of fairness, justice and emancipation.
