GOV. LALONG EXTOLS BISHOP KAIGAMA, URGES
PRAYERS FOR PEACE

Christians
all over have been urged to pray ceaselessly for peace in the land as government
deepens dialogue towards peaceful coexistence.
Governor
Simon Lalong of Plateau state stated this at the Remembrance and thanksgiving
service of the family of Kaigama held at Kona, Taraba State.
A press
statement by Hon. Yakubu Dati, Commissioner of Information and Communication
stated that Lalong said peace remained the cardinal objectives of the
rescue administration in its quest to better the lives of the people.
The statement added that speaking at the church
service, the chief host and the Archbishop of Jos Diocese, Ignatius Kaigama
said the service was organized by the Kaigama family to remember their father
who died 25 years ago, and offer thanksgiving for God's faithfulness.
Bishop
Kaigama is also said to have commended the Lalong administration for
distinguishing itself in human welfare through the prompt payments of salaries,
gratuities and pensions and further reinstated his commitment to the peace
process being championed by the Lalong administration urging support from all
citizens.
The
statement stated that while speaking at the event, Gov Dairus Ishaku of Taraba
State also commended Governor Lalong for promoting friendship and brotherhood
between Plateau and Taraba states.
It further stated
that Lalong had earlier attended the wedding ceremony of the son of Gov Dairus Ishaku
held at Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.
According to the statement, Governor Lalong
was accompanied by some members of the State executive council which included
Commissioner of Information and Communication and that of Works, Yakubu Dati
and Pam Botmang respectively. Others are Engr. Sam Gyang Audu, Amb Danladi
Wuyep, Bar Umar Shittein, Rev Father Polycarp and Rev James Langs of the
Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.
