Pre-hearing in the National Assembly Election Tribunal commences in Jos

A three member tribunal Chaired by Justice T.N. Nzegwu on Monday conducted pre-hearing in the National Assembly Election petition at the High Court of Justice, West of Mines Jos, venue of the tribunal. Five petitions were mentioned today during the pre-hearing session.

They are Petition No: EPT/PL/NA/SEN/02/2019 between Hon. Sanusi Mohammed and Gyang Istifanus Dung; Petition No: EPT/PL/NA/HR/03/2019 between Dongs Pam Gyang and Dachung Musa Bagos; Petition NO: EPT/PL/NA/HR/5/2019 between Hon. Jonathan Dabo and Alhaji Maitila Jengre; Petition NO: EPT/PL/NA/HR/06/2019 between Hon. Johnbull Tiemlong Shekarau and Komsol Longgap and Petition No: EPT/PL/NA/HR/09/2019 between Bitrus Dakwal Tawal and Simon Davou Mwadkwon.

Counsels to both the petitioners and respondents told the tribunal that they were all served with pre-hearing information sheet in the matters and have also responded by filing answers to the questions contained therein at various dates and humbly applied to adopt same as their answers.
Counsels further mentioned some paragraphs in their pre-hearing answers were they listed number of applications which they intended to file during the pre-hearing session and their purposes which include applications for subpoena, applications challenging the competence of some petitions, applications for challenging the competence of the respondents processes and replies among others.

Counsels also requested for between 3 and 5 days to enable them file the applications which was granted by the tribunal.
Some of the counsels for the petitioners and respondents in all the petitions include: Chief S.G. Odey, H.N. Ugwuala S.S. Obende, L.D. Dafer, Jim Gotom Sunday Oyawale among others.
Matters were adjourned to 14 and 16th May, 2019.
