Hearing resumed on Thursday at the Plateau State Local Government Election Petition Trial Tribunal sitting at West of Mines Jos as respondents told the tribunal of their intention to call 10 witnesses.
The 1st witness, Timjul Sambo, during cross examination by Niri Darong counsel to Petitioners told the tribunal that he had two voter’s cards and also utilized the cards at two different polling units during the October 10, 2018 local government election in Plateau state. According to witness, one voter card bears the name Timjul Laven Sambo while the second bears the name Timjul Sambo. He said that on the day of the election, he voted at Pyeche and Bapkwai polling units using the two voter’s cards respectively while also serving as APC ward collation agent.

When counsel asked him of the code number of Bapkwai polling unit which also served as ward collation centre, the witness said he didn’t know.
Witness further told the court that indeed, APC won in the ward with a difference of 325 votes and that the result was recorded in PLASIEC summary result sheet but also confirmed that the result sheet lacks serial number.
In another development, an aide to Hon. Amos Kparnim, the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government, Lasing Binbal was seriously warned by the Chairman of the tribunal, Hon. Jovita Binjin to desist from interrupting the activities of the tribunal or risks being charged for contempt. It all started when the tribunal discharged the 1st witness and asked that the next witness be called. Binbal got to his feet but the chairman of the tribunal asked him to re-take his seat. He told the chairman that he intended calling the next witness but the chairman told him that all the witnesses were subpoenaed by the tribunal and it had enough personnel to manage the situation. The bombshell was dropped when the chairman told Binbal that he had already taken note of his antecedent as he has kept a close watch on him and the outcome revealed that he was in the habit of communicating proceedings of the tribunal to other witnesses outside the court room  and were yet to mount the witness box.
Binbal who is said to be the Chief of staff to the chairman of Langtang North was subsequently warned by the tribunal to desist from that behavior or risk being charged for contempt. Hearing continues tomorrow.
