Pupils in Government Schools in Plateau State would continue to be
fed at home under the School Feeding Program of the Social Investment program
(SIP). This was revealed to African Drum on Thursday
by the Executive Assistant to the Governor and Focal Person - Social Investment
program, Plateau State, Dr. Sumaye Fadimatu Hamza in Chip, Pankshin Local Government Area
of the state on the occasion of payment of N20,
000 to beneficiaries under the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), another
component of the SIP.
"According to Dr. Hamza, the School Feeding Program was
interrupted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 prompting the children to be home.
However, Mr. President has directed that they should be fed even at home. It is in
this regard that raw food would be given to households".

The Focal Person said that Collection Centers have already been
identified for that purpose. "Raw food would be given to households. They
would use voucher to collect the raw food at the collection centers. We have
already identified collection centers in Plateau state and so it is in other
States of the Federation. The exercise would commence soon", she said.
Recall that the Home Grown School Feeding is a component of the
Social Investment program with numerous benefits which include increase
enrollment, improve retention and completion as well as providing nourishment
and good health to the children.
