Inter party Advisory Council of Nigeria ( IPAC ) Plateau State chapter now has a new chairman. He is Hon. AbubakarDogara, state chairman of the Social Democratic Party ( SDP ). Dogara beat two other candidates ( Amb. Mannanseh Watyi, chairman, Fresh Party and Hon. Yakubu Dauda, chairman, National Progressive Movement, NPM ) to emerge in a keenly contested election on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of  INEC head Office old Miango Road, Jos.

Other officers also  elected to run the affairs of the Council are; Hon. Jacob Anyaka of PPA, deputy Chairman 2, who was returned unopposed. Hon. Sam Dawvi of ANRP was elected Secretary General with 38 votes against 37 pulled by Hon. Jibrin Sebastian of the YDP.  Hon. Maigari was returned unopposed as deputy Secretary General. The post of Treasure went to Hon. Aliyu who pulled 37 votes and beat Barr. Salome David who pulled 36 votes. The post of State Organizing Secretary went to Hon. Michael James, elected unopposed while the disqualification of Dung Moses also saw the emergence of Jonathan David unopposed. Hon. Kaneng Gyang Fulani beat Hon.

 Dauda Azi for the post of Gender & Disability with 38 votes against 33 while Benjamin Chakam Dakam beat Izam Samuel for the post of state Legal Adviser with 41 votes against 30. Hon. Ibrahim Mani was elected Financial Secretary unopposed, however, there was tie on the post of State Publicity Secretary between Hon. Akpi Emma Emerson of the NRM and Hon. Jega Isa who both pulled 34 votes each. Consequently, a new date would be set for re run election for them. 
Speaking to African Drum immediately after his election, Hon. Dogara appreciated his colleagues for having confidence in him by giving him their mandates and promised not to fail them. According to the new IPAC chairman, the establishment of a Cooperative Society is his major priority. He said other plans for IPAC is to work in synergy with MDGs to co- opt members to offer voluntary services as well as working hard to ensure IPAC is represented at the state Executive Council.
