BCDA President urges members to continue
to be peace ambassadors

The
National President of Bace Cultural Development Association (BCDA), Jacob Adingbu
Agal has urged Bace (Rukuba) sons and daughters to continue to be good
ambassadors wherever they find themselves. Addressing congress at the BCDA
secretariat in Binchi Bassa LGA over the weekend, Agal expressed satisfaction
on the degree of commitment and discipline exhibited by Bace in their chosen
fields of endeavour in and outside Nigeria. He said that on assumption of office about six
month ago, his Exco undertook District tour of all the Districts in Rukuba chiefdom
to meet with official of District branches as well as traditional rulers to
ascertained challenges on ground and to encourage them.
According
to the President, other activities by his Exco within the period include
meeting with the peace committee of the Plateau State House of Assembly (PLHA);
writing and expressing interest to a
Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) for the construction of bore holes and
roads in the community and a courtesy call to the former General Officer Commander
(GOC) of the 3rd Armoured Division Rukuba where a complaint of non-payment
of compensation to Rukuba people was lodged and the discussion on ways of
harmonious and peaceful co-existence between the military and the host community.
High
point of the event was the inauguration of four standing committees to assist
the new EXCO in its task.
Speaking
to African Drum immediately after
the congress meeting, Agal further called on other ethnic nationalities in
Bassa Local Government to be steadfast and remain committed to the path of
peace stressing that there was no alternative to peace and that no one has monopoly
of violence but that to tow the path of peace was vital.
He said
that Rukuba community was highly appreciative of the giant strides of the Governor
Lalong led administration in the state aimed at restoring peace and confirmed the
willingness and the desire of the Rukuba community to continue to support the
state government in this direction.
