The Chairman of the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Damisi Sango has alleged that the services of adhoc staff during the just concluded Local Government Elections, have been re-engaged to produce new results to present at the constituted tribunal.

Sango made this allegation while addressing some journalists at his country home on Friday.
Plateau Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) returned the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidates winners in all the 13 local governments where the elections were conducted on 10th October, 2018. The PDP described the exercise as a sham alleging that PLASIEC announced winners of the elections while collation was still on-going. The opposition party went further and approached the Local Government Elections Petition Tribunal on its grievances.

According to Sango, initially, they thought we will not go to the tribunal but now that we have approached the tribunal and in other to justify the charade, the bizarre thing they did, they now arranged new ballot boxes and looking for people to thumbprint new ballot papers so they can present at the tribunal. We have the information, we have insiders. Presiding officers are called to sign fabricated results. We have asked our men to go there. We have got moles there and they have been filming, so now we have more in evidence to nail them at the tribunal. They have also forgotten that the police have their copies too.”

Sango said the action was being used as an experiment towards 2019 general elections and called for its condemnation by all lovers of democracy and good governance.

“May be it is an order from above to use the Local Government election in Plateau State as a trial so that when it works, they can apply it during the general elections in 2019 to return Buhari and Lalong. So, we must look beyond the Local Government elections because it is an experiment for the future. Nigeria must watch, Plateau must watch.” Said Sango.
