Comrade Jibrin Bacir has acknowledged the complexity of religion and diverse ethnicity that exist in the polity but also believed that cannot be a hindrance towards his resolved to serve his people. According to him, the two elements are utilized by politicians who lack the capacity to deliver consequently; they rely on religion and ethnic cards to achieve their selfish and personal interests. Bancir, who is contesting for Plateau south senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) made this statement while speaking to African Drum in Jos today. According to Bancir, “Yes we have complexity of religion and diverse ethnic nationalities that exist in the polity. But that is not a problem. It is about the capacity to represent the people.
“Representation and service delivery is not about religion or ethnicity but the interest of the people so I am presenting myself for who I am. It’s left for my constituency to analyze me and if they see the capacity I poses to represent them, that’s fine and good.
“As far as Nigeria is concern, these two factors are always there, because politicians that don’t have the capacity to deliver hide under any of these factors in other to scale through but for me, I am not hiding under any religion or tribe. I am presenting myself based on my capacity to represent the people of the zone and that cuts across any tribe or religion”.

The aspirant said that in view of the challenges our country is going through, there was the need for the people to have a clear direction and dynamic proactive leadership that would move the country forward stressing that it was what prompted him to contest for the senatorial seat so as to contribute his quota to the progress and development of his constituency and Nigeria at large. He added that democracy is all about the rule of law and if that is not in place, every other thing is waste of energy.
Bancir said the second reason why he is in the contest was to make a very proactive change in the present leadership representing southern zone which according to him, has been unable to carry the constituents along.

“If you are representing people, you shall be able to know their needs, to understand what actually their challenges are and that is what you carry forward in terms of peculiarity.
“Unfortunately, these issues have not been considered by those that have represented the district. People that ought to represent the zone only represented their interests.
“So, we felt there should be a change so that we have youths, people that are young, energetic and vibrant to represent zone because such young and dynamic people have the strength to withstand the challenges at the National Assembly.”

On why he choose the APC as his platform, a party that has also been accused of engaging in acts of immunity, Bancir said that It depends on what one considers as an act of impunity and the way it is applied or implemented adding that the recent movement of politicians from one party to another was clearly to satisfy their personal interests and not in the interest of those they represent.
“It’s not about the interest of Nigerians, it’s about their personal interests. In 2014, towards the build up to 2015 general elections, there was mass movement from PDP to APC because the latter was a clear platform for winning elections easily. Now that some people have realized they might not found it easy to win election in 2019 because of lack of performances have decided to move to another platform in other to destabilize the APC.

“So, it is not about impunity it is about personal interest by selfish people to continually retaining their seats despite their abysmal performances. To them, it’s not about representing the people because if it is so, must one represents their people in the name of a party? It’s about the office you are occupying. So, if really, your constituency wants you, any party you belong to, they will vote for you.” He said.

Cmr. Bancir further said that in the interest of fairness and equity, the southern senatorial slot should go to Wase. "From the perspective of my party, we have a sitting governor who is from the South West axis of the Southern zone. The Southern Zone is divided into two political blocks. So, if the governor is from that zone, we feel that in the interest of equity and fairness, the seat of the senate should come to South East (that is Langtang North, Langtang South and Wase) while Shendam, Mikang and Quan-pan retain the seat of the governor because Lalong is coming for second tenure. Beyond that, the senate seat of my District has constantly remained in Langtang North. We have never had it in Wase and that is why I feel for political balance. the seat should come to Wase. That is candid personal opinion. Other political parties may have their own arrangement. Yes, my brothers have declared their interests for governorship from other political parties, but as I said earlier, I don’t know their arrangements and calculations.

Bancir commended the Buhari led national government in its fight against corruption because according him, people fear the name Buhari today because of his anti corruption antecedents that has seen many go to jail and earned Nigeria a good name in the comity of nations. "But I also remember that Buhari said that corruption would surely fight back and that is what is happening today. All those corrupt leaders that no longer enjoy the loots are fighting hard in other to ensure that they retained those corrupt tendencies".
He also commended Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state for keeping to his campaign promise for the award of contract to construct a road that would link Kadarko to Wase and other communities.

According to Bancir, “The contract for the construction of Kadarko road had been awarded.  It’s among the 22 roads that was awarded. The governor clearly said last week that he was going to mobilize all contractors back to sites and make sure they complete all projects.
“That road is very critical to us particularly from the Kadarko axis because for now, we are cut off from other communities because the road is not motorable. The terrain is difficult and by the grace of God, the state government is working on that. Also, if I am elected, despite the fact that it is a state project, would contribute my quota to ensure that, that axis is open up to the world.”
