Governor
Simon Bako Lalong’s effort aimed at curbing security challenges in Plateau
state has been commended. This Commendation was made by the Commandant of the
Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Plateau State Command, Mr. Olasupo
Solomon.

Speaking
to some journalists in his office this morning, the Commandant said governor
Lalong has indeed made the security of the state a priority and it is for this
reason that he has given four Hilux vehicles to the command recently which
according to Solomon, has enhanced immensely the performance of men and
officers of the Command.
He
said, “we have been using the vehicles for operations, quick response,
intelligence gathering and for environmental disaster management.
Solomon, Commandant NSCDC Plateau state |
He
said that recently, his men arrested suspected vandals of electricity transformers
and smugglers with a trailer fully loaded with petroleum products and were
undergoing investigation. He added that one person in Jengre, Bassa LGA was jailed
2 years; one other person last week was remanded on the order of the Federal
High Court sitting in Jos while others were awaiting trial for various
offences.
The
Commandant said that as a result of the donated vehicles, his men were on
patrol night and day stressing that vandals would be dealt with in accordance
with the law.
In
a similar development, African Drum
learnt that Governor Lalong has acquired a befitting office for the NSCDC
Plateau state command to replace the dilapidated one along Lamingo road; an
effort that is also commended by stake holders. According to Henry Stephen a
security expert, a befitting office is a pre-requisite for optimum performance
for any security outfit. “For any
government security outfit to succeed on its mandate, a conducive working environment
is highly needed for efficiency and productivity”. He said.
This
Magazine further learnt from a reliable source in government that the Plateau
State Command of the NSCDC will move to its new office latest next month.
