A statement by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, Abdullahi
Abdullahi stated that at the residence of the deceased’s family in Karu,
Nasarawa State, the Vice Chancellor expressed deep shock and grief felt by
members of the University community over the untimely death of the promising
young Student.
Tanko is also quoted to have said that although the University Authorities had
earlier reached out to family through the Dean, Students Affairs, Chief
Security Officer and Course Coordinator of the Visual Handicaps Section,
Management still felt obliged to follow up with the condolence visit given the
unusual circumstances that led to her demise.
The statement added that while praying for the peaceful repose of the soul of
the Late Jennifer, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged the family not to be
discouraged over the sad occurrence but to trust in God for divine comfort and
guidance as He helps the family to navigate through the difficult moments.The
Vice Chancellor is also said to have assured the deceased’s parents that the
University community will stand by them during this period of trial.
The statement said that in response, father of the deceased Student, Anthony
Ruga expressed profound appreciation over the visit stressing that the family
had been overcome with grief and uncertainty since they received news of the
incidence but were now encouraged knowing that others are praying along with
them.
Ruga was said to have been stated that the family was strengthened by the fact
that University Authorities had kept in touch with them since the demise of
their daughter who has since been buried.
